Farmhouse Fun

This week we are pulling inspiration for a farmhouse located in Alabama. The goal is to create a home that feels as if it was built a hundred years ago -

To us, farmhouses are a place of retreat from the buzz of the real world. They provide escape from our iPhones, iPads, and laptops. Instead, we can immerse ourselves in nature and enjoy the company of ourselves and our loved ones.

We love going back to the basics in order to enjoy the simple life.

Westside Wednesday

Don't have any 4th of July plans yet? We hear that Peridot's side parking lot has a great view of Atlanta's midtown skyline. Come by next Wednesday for a free viewing of Atlanta's firework shows and pick up some food and drink at the open restaurants - Yeah! Burger and Ormsby’s.

We're all looking forward to our holiday and 4th of July activities. How will you be celebrating your Independence Day?

TDA in the News

Look what ran across our desks this morning.....

Pick up a copy of OC Atlanta to read all about IIDA Dressed. It's a great article that outlines the event. This sure did start our week off right...

Scheming

Today we are scheming and pulling for a commercial project that we are working on in Norcross. The client is renovating their existing space to include a more updated office and showroom. It's going to turn out so great -

orange orange orange

We had Interface work up a custom sample for us -
we added orange (shown above) to the standard tile (shown below) -

One of Interface's newest products is Urban Retreat. It resembles the look of concrete, but we love, love, love how they have highlighted the workstation in this installation at Neocon. We hope to achieve this look for our client, but of course in orange.

Our scheming and pulling usually begins with one focal piece, whether it is fabric, or furniture, or lighting. In this case, we started with the punch of orange carpet and are building our vision around it. So don't be afraid to start small, and layer in as your space evolves.

Westside Wednesday

One of our favorite places around the office is Perrine's Wine Shop. It is a beautiful shop with a very knowledgeable staff. Perrine is originally from Burgundy, France, and served as the sommelier for several esteemed restaurants before opening up her own shop. She hand selects all of the wines carried in her store, and even puts together food and wine pairings for customers. It's such a fun and inviting place, we just love to stop in whenever we can.

Coming up next Tuesday is a tasting with the owner and winemaker Francois Servin from Chablis. We might just make a company event out of it.

Install Wrap-Up

We completed our install on Friday night around 7:30pm after 2 extra long days of hard work. It was well worth it and the spaces we completed surpassed all of our expectations.

We installed our client's master bedroom and their 9 year old daughter's room. We dug deep to come up with this suspended bed concept that truly brought out our "inner child." The master bedroom turned out to be a beautiful retreat as well -

Installs remind us of how rewarding our job is. As designers, we have the ability to create a space that makes our clients truly happy. We are thrilled that our install went smoothly and glad that our clients are so ecstatic over their new spaces.

ASID :: EP Camp

Yesterday was ASID's Emerging Professionals Camp at ADAC and Melanie was asked to speak to a couple of groups about her journey as a designer. It was a great opportunity to share her story and passion with those who are breaking in to the design field.

We had 3 groups come through to have a little "pow wow" with Melanie. It is always inspiring to see the talent and enthusiasm from these groups. We're thankful that ASID asked Melanie to participate, and we learned just as much from them as they did from us.

Westside Wednesday

This Saturday there will be a special addition to the Westside Arts District Walk. Room and Board will be hosting Brad Downey's "Portrait of My Father". It is an aerial banner project featuring a cloud from an old photo of his father's plane -

It sounds like an extremely interesting event. So come by Room and Board this Saturday between 10am-3pm to learn more about the project. We are definitely looking forward to it and hope to see you there.

Neocon :: Interior Design Mag Giants Party

Neocon is finally here and Melanie has jetted up to Chicago to check out the newest and most innovative products of the year.

Last night Interior Design Magazine hosted their Giants party at the offices of Baker & McKenzie in Chicago. Melanie was invited to enjoy the night with some of the most talented designers across the country. It was definitely the way to kick off Neocon.

Westside Thursday?

Since we were totally swamped yesterday we are bringing you Westside Wednesday on Thursday this week. Have you heard about Live at the Plaza? Westside has been putting on a music series. Every Thursday night through the end of June there are drinks and live music outside our building.

After some long work days we may have to indulge a little and join the party tonight. Come on over and check out the fun.

Project Update

Yesterday we had a meeting to finalize some details on a suspended bed we have designed with our upholstery workroom and our structural engineer. It is such a cool design for a little girl's room, so we are making sure to take all of the right steps so that it goes in without a problem.

The inital goal for the suspended bed was to allow for more floor space. Her room is a little tight with a full bed, so by raising it we have created an area for her to hang out with her friends. The bed will be suspended from the ceiling joists by marine rope and will have some teal bookshelves underneath to add more support. Doesn't it make you want to be a kid again?

The meeting went well and we are finally ready to move forward to complete the bed. We are very anxious to install next week and will definitely give updates.
