FARMHOUSE UPDATE

After a few hiccups before the holidays, we were able to complete the installation at our client's farmhouse between Christmas and New Years. This home has become so special to all of us, and we are thrilled to share some snapshots from the installation -

We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the professional shots from our photographer and will have them up on the website asap for everyone to enjoy!

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Is it already 2013? We are coming out of our holiday fog, and luckily have some great projects to bring us back to reality. This year holds some exciting new ventures for us. Therefore, we need to keep ourselves organized, and how better than with a new years resolution list?

  • "Projects should begin with a period of reflection. Remember to stop, reflect, and bring together all the ideas and resources available before you start the design process." Even though this quote is plastered on our wall, we often find ourselves taking off with a new project when, in fact, we should be taking the time to slow down and reflect. This year we are working on setting up the structure and timeline at the first meeting in order to keep the schedule and budget on track, in turn making us as efficient as possible.
  • Focusing time in the office. Do you ever feel as if you don't have enough hours in the day? We have to have that time in the office to bounce ideas off of each other and to collaborate. Our best work is done when all three of our heads are put together. So this year we will make the conscious effort to carve out more time in the office to brainstorm.
  • Expanding our resource library. We are constantly searching and finding new products that we love, and currently we have a filing system for them. But somewhere in the middle of the year we find ourselves turning to those safe resources. This year we want to take more risks and push the boundaries of our resources and design. One of our most successful projects last year was Kids II, where we designed a slide to connect 2 floors of a commercial office space. It is the unexpected that excites a space, so why be safe when you can be great?

We wish everyone a happy 2013 and are looking forward to what this year has to offer!
