Meet the Ladies of The Design Atelier :: Emi Price

For the next month or so, we will be doing a little series called "Meet the Ladies of The Design Atelier." We want to give you the opportunity to get to know each team member of The Design Atelier! Usually, our blog posts consist of what we are currently working on or inspiration images for upcoming projects. Why not give you a peek inside our world and see who makes up The Design Atelier?!

Without any further ado, meet Emi, our Design Associate!

Emi and her fiance, Matt, cheering on their Auburn Tigers!
Name – Emily Kathryn “Emi K.” Price… but you can call me Emi K. Mason in about two months!

Hometown – I grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee but my parents moved to Auburn, Alabama about 2 years ago and I could not be more happy to call Auburn home.

I knew I wanted to be a designer when… As a little girl, my favorite thing to do was rearrange the house. I would convince my little sister that we should take her bunk beds down and make them into twin beds (or vice-versa) about once a week. Considering the fact that we were under the age 10 when this trend started, it was quite a feat for little girls… but I absolutely loved how furniture placement made a room feel like an entirely new space. I even arranged furniture in my doll house and then taped it to the floor so that my sister wouldn’t mess it up. Let’s just say my type-A, furniture loving personality was destined for interior design from a very young age.

If I wasn’t a designer I’d be… A high school math teacher and cheerleading coach.

Emi with her little sister, Melanie

Random thing I’m good at… Backflips

Favorite meal to cook (or enjoy!)… This doesn’t really count as a meal but my favorite thing to make in the kitchen is any kind of cookie or cake. I started baking with my mom when I was very young and I have always loved it.

Every home needs… Organization and at least one or two antiques.

Favorite furniture store in Atlanta… Bungalow Classic

Favorite restaurant… Acre in Auburn, Alabama – I’m partial for a lot of special reasons but you should definitely try it if you ever get a chance to visit the Plains.

You couldn’t pay me to… Swim with sharks. Never will I ever.

My perfect day… Put me on the beach or on a boat in the middle of the lake with my friends and family and I’m the happiest girl in the world.

Guilty of spending too much money on… My wedding…….

If I could travel anwhere, it would be… Bora Bora and I would stay in one of those huts with a thatch roof in the middle of the ocean and drink strawberry daiquiris all day!

My biggest pet peeve is… Messiness. I’m a neat freak.

My latest addicition is… Embossing anything that will fit into my new embosser including about 1,000 cocktail napkins for my wedding.

How cute is this engagement picture?!

We love having Emi as a part of our team. She keeps everything running smoothly and always with a smile on her face! We hope you enjoyed getting to know her a little better. Look forward to meeting the rest of the team in the weeks to come!

St. Phillip's Cathedral Antiques Show Inspiration Avenue 2015

Happy New Year! We hope y'all had a great holiday season!

This new year has already brought us several exciting projects and we are thrilled to announce that we were invited to participate in the 2015 St. Phillip's Cathedral Antiques Show Inspiration Avenue. We enjoyed being a part of last year's show and can't wait to get started!

The Cathedral Antiques Show is a festival of great antiques and the decorative arts held annually to benefit a designated charity. With the help of hundreds of volunteers and support from the church, antiques dealers, corporate sponsors, patrons, and the community, the Antiques Show has raised more than $4 million for Atlanta-area non-profits since its inception in 1969. The Cathedral receives no funding from the Show: all of each year's net proceeds are given to the beneficiary organization. The 2015 Cathedral Antiques Show beneficiary is Covenant House Georgia.

Covenant House is a residential crisis shelter serving homeless, runaway, and trafficked youth ages 18 to 21. By offering housing, crisis care, educational and vocational services, and mental health resources, Covenant House helps this vulnerable population transition to a life of safety and self-sufficiency. Covenant House's mission is to provide absolute respect and unconditional love to the youth who seek its refuge.

For last year's Inspiration Avenue, we designed a room inspired by Annie Oakley.

This year, the spaces featured in Inspiration Avenue will be decorated to reflect the styles, traditions, and cultures of a different country or region around the world. We have chosen our space to be inspired by the beautiful country Brasil. Here are some inspiration images we have pulled to start designing our space:

We'll keep you updated as we design our space. We're looking forward to the final product! If you would like more information about the antiques show, please click on the following link: www.cathedralantiques.org.
